After a few years hiatus the boys behind Slingindirt.com have elected to reopen the once fabled sim racing site and tackle another generation of sim racers and sim racing projects. For the last few years since our site's faithful leader Jeremy White (a/k/a Demo) took a leave of absence from the sim racing community due to private matters, the majority of Slingin's former top brass took a forray into trying to bridge the gaps/divides within dirt track sim gaming and forged an alliance with the members of DirtWizard.net that culminated in many great triumphs.

These triumphs included the launching of the ever-successful dirt track racing mod diRtFactor for the game rFactor as one of the shining pinnacles on the resume of what was a successful partnership, and various successful support elements (i.e. templates, skins, and tracks) and other endeavors along the way.

However, we've also learned from the exercise and that is that no matter how much you'd love to bridge the gap and have everyone work within the same confines, be forever on the same page, it is a tough endeavor to make permanently successful. The larger your base, the larger your executive staff, the more potential there is for people's wires to get crossed and for paths to reach a fork in the road with both sides potentially entertaining the notion of heading down a different path than the other. That isn't to say that either path is wrong, more to say that creative people and visionaries have their own ideas and preferences, and in those variations comes needs on both ends to fulfill. It is in these creative differences and differing directions that Slingindirt is being relaunched, relaunched not to take away from our pre-existing partners and their goals, visions, and intents, but to help solidify and provide a homey environment that fits our chosen direction, just as SimWizards and other mod groups have forged theirs.

As is fairly evident, there has been a number of dissolutions in the sim racing world, and in the unfortunate wake of the situations that have transpired, various people have left various groups on bad terms with one another. It's a tragic outcome when situations come to a head and people are left in various stages of thought about their contemporaries and none of those thoughts at that point are very flattering. That is something that Adam (SOLO) and myself never truly wanted to have happen in this situation. We forged together on this path as a band of not just friends, but brothers, and our intentions and goals were that regardless of what came about, we'd always try to find a way to patch things up, remain on high ground, and keep our friendships in-tact no matter the varied destinations we might eventually pursue. There have been some rocky times to be sure, some miscommunication on both sides, and while friends and brothers will often have their own sibling rivalries, the goal has always been to find a pathway so that no bridge is burned by our own actions. So that the heart of the matter, the pre-existing friendship, can remain perpetual.

I'm happy to say that even within the relaunch of Slingindirt.com, that Rick (Flash24) and the gang at the prior rechristened SimWizards site are still close friends and that even in this new venture that Adam (SOLO), Jeremy (Demo), and the rest of the Slingindirt gang will still see various members of SimWizards frequenting our site/board and continuing to make a strong presence. We're all very thankful for that and welcome them all with open arms because the last thing any of us truly wanted to endure was a bitter break-up or split. Rick, Adam, Jeremy, and myself have talked at length of late and the changing of directions isn't anything presided by hard feelings in as much as it's accepted as a necessary thing for all of us to have what we want and need to have comfort in this environment, our hobby we pursue.

So before people jump to unnecessary conclusions the real coherent word to be gleened from this release is that "solidarity" is still and will remain the order of the day. Rather than pose a loss, the renewal of Slingindirt is nothing but a gain for the greater of the sim racing community. Come join us and help make this a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable experience for all.

Look for more announcements from the Slingindirt.com group in the coming months and a new website coming soon!

Sincerely,

Jeremy, Adam, and Marcus & the staff of Slingindirt.com
